If you go back in time and scrutinize the decisions made to demolish a neighborhood to build a new Charity Hospital it resembles the plan to greenspace parts of the City after the flood.
In an effort to appear to entertain options the FEMA 106 site selection went forward, many of the people who participated understood that it was a “process” in name only, that the actual decisions were made out of sight of the public. The question has always been who were those decision makers and what motivated the decision to make the Lower Mid City site the one and only site.

sign the petition for at the very least we should make sure that the buyout process is equitable.
So many people are focusing on the hospital as a tool of economic development, and while I am sure there will be a number of good jobs created it would seem a quicker and more humane solution to rebuild Charity and locate the VA at the Lindy Boggs site.

The transcript and videotape of the public meeting US Risk and the State hosted at LSUHSC (November 29, 2007) have never been made public. Why?
Just how much of the public record of the deals surrounding this massive public project is actually available to the public?
