Gambit Weekly graciously honored me with The New Orleanian of the Year Award.
I appreciate the fact that they recognize the hard work of citizens who have been at the forefront of this recovery.
Saturday afternoon I took a ride over to David’s House and got a chance to see this wonderful painting by Karen Ocker
It depicts David, holding the sidewalk in front of the house, the sidewalk the City would like to banish.

Whenever I read something about “David’s House” (usually on this website) I always think of this book
There are a lot of “Orange Spots” in New Orleans. It would be a shame if we went around blotting them all out.

Karen, my family and I want you to know how much we appreciate all the work you have done for the people of New Orleans these past few difficult years. I’m hoping one day you’ll represent me as an elected official on City Council or in Baton Rouge. You are a hero indeed.
