While researching the demolition procedure we have been watching the permits as the applications come in. This one application brought back a lot of recent Post Katrina memories.
I passed by and took this photo.
Ellen Montgomery became a local legend when she stayed after the storm and continued to care for her cats and paint. Chris Rose wrote this article about her.
Then her unfortunate demise.

Well, according to the assessor’s website, a Patrick G. Brewster of Lafayette, LA bought the house for $230,000 in November 2007. Quite a bit of money for something you’re just going to tear down.

I am from Colorado, and I’d hate to think that the city of New Orleans is sending messages to owners out there to get their perfectly good homes destroyed, on MY dime.
And if Patrick Brewster bought this, I hope whatever he puts in place of this gets sold at fire sale prices. Would serve him right.

This house is not requesting a FEMA funded demolition. It is a private demo.
